Since its founding in Richmond, Virginia in 1977, Winks Snowa Architects, PC has been dedicated to excellence in architectural design. The firm’s design focus is on multifamily housing projects ranging from affordable housing communities to luxury, market rate apartment projects.The firm has completed many new construction and rehabilitation projects financed through Virgina Housing, and under the 9% and 4% Virginia Housing Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program (LIHTC). The firm has also designed numerous projects financed under various HUD programs including 221(d)(4), 223f, 232 and 202. The firm is SWaM certified in the State of Virginia as a Woman−Owned, Small and Micro business including three Registered Architects.

The firm is dedicated to environmentally responsible design approaches. The firm has designed many projects with green building programs including EarthCraft Multifamily New Construction Platinum, Gold, and Certified levels, EarthCraft Multifamily Renovation Gold and Certified levels, National Green Building Standard Bronze level, Enterprise Green Communities 2020, and Energy Star Multifamily certification. The firm has the distinction of completing the first EarthCraft Multifamily certified project in Virginia, Carter Woods Phase II Senior Apartments. Several firm team members are EarthCraft Multifamily Training Certificate Holders as well as Virginia Housing Universal Design Certificate Holders. The firm also has LEED Accredited Professionals on staff. All of the firm’s architectural team members are members of the American Institute of Architects.  
 
In addition to apartments, projects in the firm’s portfolio include senior housing as well as townhomes, student housing, and single family homes. Site Planning and Master Planning are key elements of the firm’s work.
